What SOPA and PIPA Means to Independent Artists

Don’t let the major labels fool you. SOPA and PIPA aren’t solely about stopping music piracy. It is also about eliminating the competing independent labels and DIY musicians. Music blogs, forums and hosting sites, such as soundcloud, provide a legitimate platform for independent artists to gain exposure and compete with major labels. SOPA and PIPA will threaten all of these sites. Don’t think that these large corporations won’t exploit the legislations by claiming music piracy in attempts to shut down our only means of exposure.

SOPA and PIPA will destroy true independent music and DIY artists.

I made this from a plan view map of the once mud covered longhouses and whale bones of the Ozette site, Olympic Peninsula, WA (200-100 BP). Apologizes to whoever painstakingly created this map, for effortlessly destroying their hours of work in a matter of minutes.

This is my own take on “Sunday Morning” by Velvet Underground. I recorded the vocals and guitar note for note. Then with the two recordings I rendered them to create this oneiric noise arrangement.

This was the result of my first attempt at knapping. I spent the whole morning using the hammerstone technique on several different materials and was only able to produce one decent point. It is blunt and would make an ineffective tool, but I’m still going to hold on to it.
